Beautiful September Wedding at The Secret Barn

October 31, 2023

“We had the very best wedding day! It was so much fun, and we wouldn’t change a thing!”

Lovely Ginny & David got in touch with dreams of a relaxed and countrified wedding day. They wanted a happy, laid back atmosphere and were drawn to the idyllic, rural setting (dog friendly was a bonus too!). The couple’s wedding focused on a bountiful vegetarian menu, flowers, music and lots of family & friends to share their day. They also opted for the stress free P&F set up and take down service. This meant they could pop in on the Friday to drop off their bits and bobs (a handmade post box – gorgeous!) and add some handmade place names to the tables, worry free and with left early with plenty of time to relax before the big day. Liz’s {Ruby Roux Photography) gorgeous pictures really show their whole day so beautifully.

After some flower chat, Ginny & David loved the idea of our locally grown flowers, and opted for the Best of the Field, but requested a sprig of lavender in each buttonhole in memory of David’s mum. They had beautiful bouquets, flower crowns, hair flowers for Ginny, floral chandeliers and flowers on the tables in our vintage stem vases and bottles. Ginny had some lace from her mum’s wedding dress to be used with her bouquet. Their lovely late summer blooms included; Dahlias (of course), wafty Cosmos, Cornflowers, some deliciously dark Scabious, creamy pale yellow Calendula and Zinnias. There was a single red Poppy left at the field that we snuck into Ginny’s bouquet on the day – to tie in with her (lovely!) Mum’s dress. Long tassels of Amaranthus dangled down from their Chandeliers.

G & D wanted a completely Vegetarian menu for their day and chose some P&F favourites. Our resident P&F vegetarians were very happy with their choices!

Alongside the welcome drinks, guests enjoyed Bright Beet Houmous with Garlic Mushroom on Crostini, Roast Garlic and Turmeric Dip with Handmade (by Amber) Flatbreads, Aloo Chaat Sticks with Zingy Green Coriander Chutney and Mango Chilli & Lime Tartlets.

For their barbecue dinner they enjoyed Halloumi & Vegetable Kebabs, Portbello Mushrooms with Taleggio and Thyme, Smoky grilled Aubergines with Harissa and Whipped Feta. Served alongside a delicious selection of salads; Orzo with Pesto, Roasted Tomato and Mozzarella, Creamy Potato Salad with Cornichons, Capers & Spring Onions, our very pretty Late Summer Beet Salad with Blackberries & Goats Cheese and A Spicy Carrot Slaw – yum!

For pudding they all tucked in to our Homemade Chocolate Brownies, Thick dollops of Double Cream and a scattering of Summer Berries.

It was a perfect late summer day for a ceremony in The Orchard, they spent the day outside with their guests and the barn doors were flung open into the night as friends played music and DJ’d and their Country and Western Band played and everyone danced the night away. Ginny looked beautiful and fairylike in a very delicate dress with lots of lace, and flowers in her hair. They were such a lovely, smiley couple and we were so pleased to help them celebrate their Wedding Day.

“We wanted to pop in to say a gigantic thank you, to all the Petal and Feast Team, and Johnny too! We had the very best wedding day!

‘’It was so much fun, and we wouldn’t change a thing! Hannah and Sally were so helpful, understanding and patient from the get-go. We wanted a higgledy-piggledy day, not sticking to the “normal order of events”, and Hannah and Sally embraced our vision, thank you.

The whole Petal and Feast team were a joy, delivering the most magical day for us.The flowers were gorgeous (thank you for letting us sneak into your flower field for photos with Liz, shh!), the ceremony in the apple orchard was charming, the confetti throwing as we walked over the rose bridge was idyllic, the barn was so beautifully decorated, the food was a total hit, and everything in-between was simply perfect. Our family and friends commented how magical and seamless our day was, and that really is thanks to you all!

Thank you so much for also clearing up for us so quickly, and leaving our bits and bobs in one place. It made the Sunday so easy-peasy!   We can’t wait to see our pictures from Liz, and of course she will/we will share them with you!

Many thanks again,  Ginny and Dave xx’’
